Anja Bakowska
I was born in southern Poland in 1977. My passion and desire to travel and become a photographer were born from books. I couldn't decide what I liked more, the mountains or the sea. I wanted both. I wanted to live on a boat and search for the most remote parts of the world, photographing them. I started exploring the potential of black and white photography in the darkroom at the age of 12. I further studied photography at a Polish college and then left for Australia hoping to work as crew on sailing yachts. I followed this dream and was part of a crew for 7 years on the sailing boat Cordelia in the Pacific Ocean and Southeast Asia. I took part in the culture of many remote places and lived many adventures that I documented and published in various magazines and shared in exhibitions.
Open Air Photo is dedicated to outdoor photography using new technologies such as drones and digital equipment. After years at sea, I moved to the Italian Alps and focused on the territory, looking at it from a different point of view and perspective. I did not focus only on the nature of the mountains but also on local tradition and culture, on sport and tourism.
I offer my passion, dedication and experience to the photographic service of Open Air Photo.
